Mascherano on Miami goalkeeper scandal: Now is not the time to talk about it, focus on the game

Inter Miami coach Mascherano recently accepted an interview and talked about the news that Peruvian goalkeeper Pedro Gallese may join.

Inter Miami's season is not over yet, but transfer rumors have already begun to surface. The first name to surface is Peruvian international goalkeeper Pedro Galese, who plays for Orlando City. Pedro Gallese will become a free agent when his contract with Orlando City ends, and he may look for better options within or outside MLS.

When talking about the team's transfer rumors, Mascherano said that it is not yet time to determine the details of the lineup for next season. He said: "We usually do not discuss players from other clubs. The most important thing for us now is to focus on the decisive stage of the playoffs."

"We cannot waste energy on rumors or what happened in other clubs. The club will start working after the event and prepare to strengthen the lineup for next season."

The 35-year-old Galese played for Orlando City for six seasons and played more than 160 games. Deporte Total USA understands that no negotiations have taken place between Gallese and Inter Miami and, at least so far, these rumors are unfounded.

Inter Miami's situation at the goalkeeper position is very unclear. Oscar Ustari was the undisputed mainstay throughout the season, but lost his starting position three games before the end of the regular season. Rocco Rios Novo took his place and started the first leg against Nashville.

Whether it is Rios Novo or third goalkeeper William Yablov, their contracts with Inter Miami will expire at the end of the 2025 season, while Ustari completed the contract extension in the middle of this season.

Although Inter Miami may be considering looking for candidates in the goalkeeper market for the 2026 season, Gallese was not initially on the list.
