A22: UEFA is obliged to recognize our right to organize events, otherwise we will seek huge compensation.

Recently, the Madrid court rejected UEFA’s appeal, confirming that UEFA abused its market dominance in the European Super League incident. The European Super League operating company "A22" issued a statement further clarifying its position on this.
A22 Sports Management welcomes another landmark ruling by the Spanish Court of Appeal in a European Super League case. This is the third consecutive case in which the European Court of Justice has ruled that UEFA's long-term monopoly in pan-European club competitions constitutes an abuse of market dominance and violates relevant EU laws.
During the proceedings, the provincial high court examined 21 different complaints filed by UEFA, La Liga (LaLiga) and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). All complaints were dismissed and the judgment of this court was binding and enforceable.
Bernd Reichart, CEO of A22 Sports Management, said: "After years of legal proceedings, UEFA can no longer ignore these binding court judgments. By abusing their monopoly position and blocking new initiatives, they have caused huge losses to many clubs, players and other stakeholders across Europe."
A22 has been fighting for many years to have UEFA recognize a proposal for an open multinational club competition. During 2025, A22 held extensive discussions with senior UEFA representatives to try to find the necessary reforms to achieve the necessary reforms by modifying the existing competitions (Champions League, Europa League and UEFA Europa League), rather than completely replacing these competitions.
These discussions included recommendations to improve the fan experience, modernize governance and sustainably improve the club's financial position. The main goal of the dialogue is to improve the current system with minimal intervention. Despite UEFA's cooperative approach, they refused to compromise.
A22 is committed to promoting the interests of European club football through innovation and cooperation and believes that today's decision will push UEFA on the right path.
According to legal provisions, UEFA is obliged to recognize A22’s right to organize competitions that compete with its own events. If UEFA continues to ignore the binding court ruling, A22 will have to seek substantial damages.
