According to EFE, which was informed by sources familiar with the matter, Elche forward Rafa Mir appeared in court on Monday at the Court of Investigation No. 8 in Liria, Valencia Province, where he was charged with sexual assault. Mir expressed dissatisfaction with the decision, but he announced that he would give up the appeal and accept the trial at the Valencia Provincial High Court.

In addition to expressing dissatisfaction, Mill also abandoned the "inquiry statement" at this stage and insisted on his previous statement. Furthermore, EFE understands that the player does not intend to file a reform application with a judge or appeal to the High Court of the Province of Valencia, accepting the fact that the case will be heard in the High Court.

Mir was on loan to Elche from Sevilla this season and was playing for Valencia on loan at the time of the incident. He was charged with violent sexual assault and was required to pay bail of 12,500 euros to cope with possible sentencing. EFE understands that Mir has expressed his willingness to pay the bail immediately. Another player, Pablo Jara, was also charged with sexual assault in the same case and was required to pay a bail of 5,000 euros.

The investigating judge found that based on the evidence collected during the investigation, there were indications that Mir sexually assaulted one of the two women on two occasions. The two women met Mir, Jara and another friend at a nightclub in Valencia. The incident occurred in the early morning of September 1, 2024, at Mir's residence in Betra, Valencia, specifically in the swimming pool and bathroom. The judge also found signs that Hara had committed sexual assault and minor injury without physical contact against the second woman.

Milben appeared in court via video conference on Monday in Mallorca, where his lawyer's office is located. A few days ago, lawyers obtained permission that would allow Mir to appear in court in Liria without having to go to Liria in person. After Mir gave up his appeal, Jara will need to decide whether to petition a judge for reform or appeal to the Valencia provincial high court.
