Yuermand: Only the pharmaceutical factory makes me want to re-train the coaching point. Only by being good at the game can I become a top team

Juermand, who made his official debut as the new coach of Leverkusen on Wednesday morning, talked about his expectations for the job here at his first press conference and explained why the challenge attracted him so much.

- About motivation for accepting Leverkusen's appointment:

Jurmand: "After my experience working for the Denmark national team, I have been working on a campus project for the Danish Football Association. It's a sincere cause, and I'm not actually in the market as a coach. There is only one club that can make me feel like taking over a team again - that's Leverkusen. I know I can be completely myself here."

"Through my experience of Ismail Carmen Fort (Leverkusen's physical coach from 2021-2025), he worked with me for three years at the Denmark national team and I already know the style of the game here. Therefore, I can identify with the work here very well. Now my focus is entirely on Leverkusen."

- About his coaching style:

Juermand: "In my opinion, you can't define a person with a label. I have high requirements anyway, I want to see discipline and always see the possibility of improvement - whether it's myself, the coaching staff, or the players. I don't need to be a leader. Of course, I can be stricter, but overall I'm a very good person to communicate."

"CEO Carlo and Sports General Manager Rollfers know what kind of person I am. I'll speak out my thoughts and never hide them. I also want the people around me to do this. Basically, I'm not doing this job to prove something. I do this job because I love football and I love the Bundesliga. I can hardly wait to celebrate success with Leverkusen."

- About the roster and the work to begin:

Yulmander: "I'm excited about this team, and the team has great potential. I've had a good conversation with some players. It's up to us to be a great team as a whole - both on and off the court. Leverkusen has had a huge success in the past few years, and it's the result of a consistently good work."

"If you want to be a top team, you have to do well in all stages of the game. Especially with being proactive in order to control the game. It takes some time in football, not everything will work immediately. I've learned one thing in the national team, that is, you have to work accurately and efficiently at all times because there are not many training sessions there. The same situation is now facing here. I'm looking forward to the start."

- About the new coaching team:

Yulmander: "In my conversation with management, we discussed together how we wanted to train and play, and quickly found that we had the same view. There are different backgrounds in the coaching team and we formed a diverse team, which is great."

"The coaching team is new and we have to work closely with each other now. It's important for me to do things together, empower the people around me, to feel strong and able to be the real selves. The coaching team is very capable, and I'm very happy with this combination."
