Team report: Ligue 1 s transfer net income this summer was 303 million euros, with spending of 662 million euros. The five major European leagues were the least
Team News reported that the French Ligue 1 summer transfer market made significant profits, becoming the biggest winner among the five major leagues.
TV broadcast revenue declined, and Ligue 1 clubs adopted a frugal strategy in the transfer market this summer. Among the five major European leagues, only two have achieved surplus in this transfer window, while Ligue 1 has a far superior net income of 303 million euros, almost twice the surplus of 163 million euros in Bundesliga.
In terms of expenditure, the Ligue 1 club spent a total of 662 million euros to buy players, the least among the five major leagues, slightly lower than the 684 million euros in La Liga. However, unlike the Spanish team, Ligue 1 clubs have also conducted a large number of sales transactions, reaching a total of €965 million, a figure close to the Bundesliga (1.01 billion euros) and Serie A (1.102 billion euros). Although the Premier League sales are higher, its huge spending of over €3 billion has resulted in a huge deficit.
In France, Paris FC's transfer income and expenditure situation was the least ideal, with a net loss of 57 million euros. The promoted team spent 17 million euros to introduce Otavio, their largest signing.
Surprisingly, it was not Paris Saint-Germain that spent the most in the summer transfer window, but Strasbourg, which spent a total of 127.5 million euros, compared with the defending champion PSG, which only spent 103 million euros. The last day, Donnarumma was sold to Manchester City for 30 million euros (excluding bonuses), helping Paris Saint-Germain reduce its losses, from the expected -69 million euros to -39 million euros.
Monaco, Lille and Lyon have made more than 100 million euros in profits by selling players, becoming the biggest winners of this transfer period financially.
In the entire Ligue 1, only four teams spent more than their revenue: Paris FC, Strasbourg, Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille.
