Desky Sky: Emre Jan is expected to catch up with the German Cup, Schlottbeck is expected to return in September

German Sky Sports published a report reporting Dortmund's current injury situation.

Emre Jan suffered an adductor injury at the end of last season and missed the Club World Cup in the United States. The Dortmund captain is currently actively recovering and is the only player to practice extra at the rehabilitation center on Thursday, but the first friendly match on July 30 is still too early for him.

However, the club is optimistic about the 31-year-old James' return in the German Cup against Red and White Essen on August 18 and the Bundesliga focus game against St. Pauli on August 23. The team plans to help him prepare for the new season through training camp in Saalfeden, Austria from August 4 to 9.

Schlottebaker will also not appear in the friendly match against Juventus on August 10. The 25-year-old central defender suffered a meniscus tear while shooting in April in Dortmund's training. Although the recovery is progressing smoothly, the club is unwilling to take the risk of rushing due to the severity of the injury, and the international player's goal of returning is set in September.

New coach Kovac highly valued Schlottbeck and Zhan. They together with Gross and Anton form the core pillar of Dortmund. Emre Jan is expected to continue to serve as the team's captain in the new season.
