American News: Mawei is expected to be put on the shelves again, potential suitors have the courage of Kaido team & without the Lakers
According to NBA reporter Jake Weinbach, Hornets center Mark Williams is expected to be put on the shelves by the Hornets again. He was almost traded to the Lakers in February this year, but that deal was eventually withdrawn.
The reporter said that Ma Wei's rookie contract has one year left and the 23-year-old center does not seem to be in the Hornets' future plans. If the Hornets continue to peddle the center with starting strength, the Bucks, Bulls, Celtics, Raptors and Warriors may all become potential suitors.
As the No. 15 pick in the first round of 2022, Ma Wei is in the third year of his rookie contract. His salary this season is US$4.09 million, and his salary in the last year of his rookie contract in the 2025-26 season is about US$6.28 million.
